Shri Krishna is the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu, is one of the most celebrated deities in the hindu mythology and their story is one of the favorites of children.
Lord Krishna was born on the 8th (ashtami) day of the dark fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada (August–September). And Shri Krishna was 8th child of Devaki and Vasudeva.
Kansa was a evil king and wantеd to stay in powеr forеvеr. But a spеcial prophеcy said that his own sistеr, Dеvaki, would havе an еighth child who will kill him.
Then Kansa lockеd up his sistеr Dеvaki and hеr husband Vasudеva in a dark, gloomy prison. And one day Lord Vishnu went to Devki’s and Vasudeva’s prison to tell them their next child will be mine avatar.
Devaki was the sister of Kansa, an evil king which have no mercy to other people and it was foretell that Devki’s son will kill him, so he imprisoned Devki and her husband and started killing their children.
The day on which Shri Krishna born the kingdom of Mathura fell asleep and Vasudeva exchanged his son from Yashoda’s daughter which is believed to be avatar of Godess Durga.
Now Vasudeva took Shri Krishna in a basket on his head and started walking through Yamuna river to leave Krishan in Gokul. Along the way Sheshnag accompanied and helped Vasudeva to cross the river.
Then he replaced the Krishna with Yashoda’s daughter and went back to the prison. Thus managed to trick Kansa into believing that the prophecy of his death at the hands of Devaki’s eighth son is false.
Kansa found that it is a girl again and Kansa barged into the prison, lifted the baby girl to kill.
But this time when he prepared to kill the child, it slipped away from his hands and reached the sky, transforming into Goddess Yogamaya.
Now Kansa had some hint about the Krishna that he must be replaced by Vasudeva but still he took a relief that he killed all of them and the prophecy is not true.
